Polis will be 'burning up the phones' to bring MLB All-Star Game to Colorado

Coors Field and the city of Denver will host the 2021 MLB All-Star Game if Gov. Jared Polis gets his wish.

The league announced earlier this week the game will be moved out of Atlanta due to a new law in Georgia that restricts voting rights.

On Friday night, The Athletic reported Coors Field and the Rockies were a candidate to host the game that is looking for a new city. 9NEWS reached out to Polis' office on Sunday night and received the following statement:

“The Governor knows that Colorado is the best home for the All-Star Game, especially because Colorado also has strong laws that enable voters to cast their legal ballots any way they choose including through mail or in person. The Governor will be burning up the phones the next few days to see if there is an opening to bring the All-Star game to Denver.”

(NOTE: This photo was used several days during the week as the DBJ continued its coverage of the event. On April 6, Major League Baseball announced the All-Star Game will be held in Denver in 2021.)

Part of the Casa Bonita media coverage...

Denver Business Journal 9.28.21

Casa Bonita sells for $3.1 million to 'South Park' creators:  Casa Bonita is selling for $3.1 million. According to a court filing, the current owners of the restaurant entered into a purchase agreement on Thursday. This news comes six weeks after "South Park" co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone held a virtual press conference with Gov. Jared Polis announcing their plans to buy the legendary restaurant. It has been closed since March of last year, and the owners filed for bankruptcy this past spring. The "South Park" creators said they had plans to dive off the restaurant's famous waterfall and improve the notoriously bad food.  - from 9News and the Denver Business Journal. Dedication ceremony

Audubon Rockies dedicated a Habitat Hero pollinator garden surrounding Jack's Solar Garden in Longmont, CO. The solar panels supply energy for 300 homes. Instead of a chain-link fence, the Hab Hero garden creates a living wall of more than pollinator-friendly trees and plants. The paper coverage included one of our photos.  See related story in the Gardens tab.
